Why
For me, it’s not enough to just showcase final outcomes. I believe that how I approach my work is as important as the work itself. That’s why I don’t just want my portfolio to display what I’ve done, but also give a sense of who I am and how I think.
What
I emphasise the steps I take throughout the design process, highlighting my decision-making and problem-solving abilities. I also showcase my soft skills, like collaboration and communication.
How
I infuse my personality into my work by explaining my approach and sharing why I made specific choices in each project. I also include stories about challenges I’ve overcome and how I’ve adapted to feedback.
Inspiration
The simplicity of minimalism and the Zen-Buddhist aesthetic deeply inspires me, not because it’s fashionable but because it brings a sense of calm I’ve always sought. There’s something profoundly calming about a clean, intentional design. Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD, my world felt chaotic, and I think my love for minimalist design is a response to that chaos. It’s my South-Asian way of overcompensating, finding beauty in simplicity and structure where there was once disorder.
This doesn't influence what I design, because each project has its unique requirements. This is how I design.
My Approach
I’ve learned that the more I brainstorm, sketch, and visualise my ideas, the clearer and quicker my output becomes. It’s not just about having ideas but organising them, giving them room to breathe.
I always make an effort to apply what I’ve learned, whether from a book, an article, or an inspiring talk. For me, it’s never just about watching an interesting YouTube video or reading a quick LinkedIn post – it’s about really engaging with it, studying it, and finding ways to weave it into my work, even if only in small ways.
Future Plans
I’ve gathered a wealth of knowledge in product design and UX, and I’m eager to put it into practice, especially on a long-term project. My personal goal is to contribute to a product that makes a real impact, where I can apply everything I’ve learned so far. I want to be part of something that truly shapes the future in a meaningful way.
If you have made it this far, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read this.
